In early 2011 I decided to get my driving privileges restored, after not having a North Carolina driver's license in over 16 years. I went to a couple of different Attorneys, and wasn't very satisfied after my consultation with them. Then a buddy brought me to Christopher May's office and he told me that he would do everything in his power to help me get me license back. I had quite a few old tickets in Wake County and a few in Gaston County. Chris made some calls and pointed me in the right direction to get those ticket resolved. The last step to restoring my driving privileges was my DMV hearing, where Chris May personally represented me. Chris did a outstanding job. In March of 2009 my son was scheduled for brain surgery. For several years he had been troubled with severe headaches and bounced around to many specialists who all came up with a rare condition called Chiari Malformation. Bradley had lost several years of schooling and had to be home schooled due to him being so sick. There were days when he could not get out of bed and other days that he could not function like any normal teenager should. Bradley prepared himself for the surgery, he had his pre-op done and I had my time scheduled from work to take care of him. Three days before surgery I was notified that our insurance company had refused to let him have the surgery and was told we would need to appeal.

I did just that....appealing to California then Arizona as requested…still Bradley’s surgery was denied.

It was at this time that Chris May stepped in and wrote a letter on Bradley’s behalf requesting that new brain scans should be looked at and a new decision be made. The insurance company took on board what Chris requested and within weeks Bradley was operated on. Thanks to Chris May, Bradley has made a good recovery, so much so that he now attends University in Florida and for once is getting on with his life. I will be eternally grateful for what Mr. May did for my son.

Chris May started out as my lawyer, but by the end of my case he was a friend. Someone whom I could confide in and trust with matters most important to me. He not only won my case, but coached me through the entire process, which in my case took years, since we went to trial...and knocked a speeding ticket I got off my record in the meantime. I met Christopher May several years ago after a car accident. I was a passenger in a vehicle that was rear ended by an underage driver talking on a cell phone. My injuries were to my left side requiring Doctor’s care and physical rehabilitation. Shortly after that I was injured on my job, a computer cord had fallen and wrapped itself around my foot, so when I stood up it tightened causing me to fall backwards landing on a hard cement floor.
When I called, Chris, regarding my work related injury I really didn’t expect him to take this case. It was very complicated, (two injuries in a short time) and on the surface didn’t appear to be winnable to me. He explained what the down side of the case could be. He was extremely honest, (which I appreciate more than he knows). He also explained NC Workman’s Comp laws; the up and down sides and what I could expect.

The company I worked for was totally unconcerned about my injury. They hired a law firm whose sole purpose is to keep employers from being held responsible for workers injured on the job. Their tactics include intimidation, threats and, denial of medical procedures, all of which kept Mr. May busy with the legal mumbo jumbo and maneuvers this corporate law firm kept throwing at him. Frankly I was amazed at his ability to thwart each and every tactic they used to force an early and inequitable settlement to my case. He insured that every right afforded my by the State of NC as an injured worker was upheld.

One important note I would like to make here … Chris May did not get rich off my case (either one of them.)

When my case was finally settled, with a great deal of satisfaction on my part, it was a huge burden lifted off my shoulders. I felt that Mr. May had taken a seemingly on win case, to a just ending and he did it in a way that upheld my dignity as well as well as my rights.

But the icing on the cake is when his same company tried to block my unemployment claim further down the line, he handled that hearing pro bone… I got the feeling, though, he never said so, that he felt his company was reacting, still, to the shellacking he gave them in during the course of my case.

I have already decided that if I win the lottery that I would retain Mr. Chris May as my family attorney for whatever legal issue that arose. Simply because he has the versatility, intelligence, and most importantly the sense of justice needed to tackle any legal challenge that would adversely impact a person’s quality of life.

One other note, Chris has THE VERY BEST STAFF IN THE WORLD. They always made me feel welcome, and added to that feeling I was the most important client they had. So thank you Chris, and staff for all of your support, energy and commitment.
